Archetypal Speakeasy

A walking dinner that, through four future scenarios of Oaxacan cuisine—developed from the recognition and analysis of patterns and signals of change derived from the findings of the last three years of research within the Mesatemporal project—explores the different possibilities of cultural practices surrounding food.

This exercise takes as its starting point the four future archetypes proposed by Dator to address the following questions:

What will happen to Oaxacan cuisine if we do not modify our consumption patterns and continue to promote practices that degrade the environment without allowing space for the regeneration of soil and productive areas? What measures should we take to ensure that the recipes of Oaxacan cuisine endure, remain accessible to all, and promote more sustainable and planetarily healthy consumption habits? How might we apply the knowledge embedded in Oaxaca’s gastronomic cultural model to create better consumption practices among both local residents and temporary populations, in order to halt environmental and social degradation in the state?
